Financial Freedom Proof How I Replaced My Salary with Real Estate

I’ve been in construction for over 30 years. It’s not an easy business—late nights, even earlier mornings, and running into brick walls more times than I can count. Even with a top-notch team behind me, I often had to jump in, sleeves rolled up, doing more than my share just to ease the burden. 

I skipped haircuts, spa days, nights out, and if I traveled, it was for work. But through all those challenges, there was one thing I knew could control…… our financial future. I did this by investing in real estate. 

I started small, but it was additional cashflow. So, I kept doing it. One house at a time. Over and over. 

The goal was simple: replace Steve and my salary and live off our investments—traveling the world, being free. And after years of grit and grind, the scales finally tipped. Our investment income became larger than our W2 income. 

We made it. 

We didn’t have to work anymore. 

But here’s the twist—I discovered I like solving problems. I like creating systems that scale. And I really like analyzing opportunities that keep my team and customers safe. So, instead of stepping away, I completely pivoted our business to building investment property for others.  

I hope to teach you the lessons my journey taught me,  I could have done it faster and with half the sweat.  If only I knew then what I know now.

Today, I invest along side others. Sometimes they are my deals, sometimes someone else\\\’s. But I now know doing it alone is the slow path to financial growth. Investing in larger properties (with other people) means bigger returns. THAT is the game changer. I just had to get my control-freak-self to listen.

Today, I spend my time helping others achieve the same kind of freedom we finally reached. Using the lessons from our growth years, I hope to help my people achieve their freedom faster and with much less work. It feels good to be working with a pay-it-forward purpose. 

I still don’t shop much or go out often. But now, I do take extended, life-changing trips with my son—and that’s what freedom looks like for me. 

If you’re sacrificing your future for work today, make an intentional choice to do something about it.

Maybe it’s real estate, maybe it’s something else. But I plead with you—figure it out. 

Because the real question is this:
