Wall Street Teaches Defense. Builders Play Offense.
I’ll just say it:
I hate playing defense.
In sports, in business, and definitely with my money.
And yet, that’s exactly what most financial advice tells you to do—hand your savings to some “expert” on Wall Street you’ll never meet, cross your fingers, and hope they do better with your life’s work than you could yourself.
That has never made sense to me.
I’ve spent decades building companies, solving problems no one else wanted to touch, and creating real assets.
Why would I suddenly hand control to someone who can’t even pronounce “Tri-Cities”?
How the Wealthy Actually Invest
I recently listened to a conversation about centa-millionaires—people with $100M net worth—and one of their biggest struggles is giving up control.
They didn’t build wealth by sitting back and letting a banker “diversify them to death.”
They built it by understanding their investments, influencing strategy, and staying close to the people running their assets.
And the truth is, most people—middle class, affluent, or even successful professionals—are told to do the exact opposite:
sit down, stay quiet, hand over the money, and hope for a single digit return.
That’s full-time defense.
And it keeps people stuck.
Offense Doesn’t Mean Reckless—It Means Intentional
I believe in diversification.
But I believe in smart, strategic, accountable diversification.
That’s why my portfolio includes things like oil, gas, real estate, even marinas.
Not because I want to “gamble.”
But because in every case I can talk to a real person, ask real questions, review real strategy, and hold someone accountable.
That’s offense.
That’s how professionals who expect excellence invest.
Defense Preserves. Offense Builds.
You didn’t build your career by sitting on the sidelines waiting for instructions.
You made decisions.
You used your judgment.
You created momentum.
Your portfolio should reflect that same DNA.
The ultra-wealthy know this.
They keep part of their wealth in transparent, strategic assets they can actually understand and influence.
And that mindset is available to you too—no billionaire status required.
Your Next Step
If you’ve felt uncomfortable outsourcing your financial future to someone you don’t even know… trust that feeling.
You’re not meant for average.
Your life wasn’t built on defense.
Your wealth shouldn’t be either.
If you want to explore what playing offense looks like in a way that’s strategic and steady—not risky—let’s talk.
