Retirement Is Not an Age, It’s a Number (And How Real Estate Can Get You There Faster)

I was at a luncheon last week when someone dropped a truth bomb that stopped me mid-bite:

“Retirement is not an age—it’s a number.”

I nearly stood up and clapped. I immediately thought, “yes! That’s exactly what my people, YOU, need to hear.”

Because here’s the truth: the calendar doesn’t decide when you’re done. Cash flow does.

Now here’s the twist: the guy saying it was a financial advisor. Yep—Wall Street guy.
And you know what? I like him. I think he’s doing good work. His job is helping people hit their number through traditional investments—stocks, bonds, mutual funds, the whole shebang.

But today, I want to show you another way. A way that might just get you to your number faster, with more control, more stability, and more purpose.

HERE\\\’S A QUICK INVESTMENT TERMS GLOSSARY

What’s Your Number?

Let’s break it down:

Retirement isn’t about a date on a calendar. It’s about creating enough income that your work becomes optional.

Here’s a quick way to find your number:

Monthly Expenses × 1.25 = Your Freedom Number

So if your expenses are around $6,000/month, your target is $7,500/month. That gives you room for breathing, dreaming, and a few gelato-fueled vacations to Italy.

When you hit that number with income from investments, you don’t have to “retire.” You just earn the right to choose.

And let me tell you, freedom by choice feels a lot better than freedom by exhaustion.

Why I Believe in Real Estate

Real estate has helped me and countless others hit that number, not someday, but sooner than we thought possible. Here’s why I believe it’s the better path:

✅ It’s faster: With the right deals and leverage, real estate creates serious momentum. While the stock market takes decades, a well-placed investment in a solid property can start cash flowing in months.

✅ It’s safer: Real assets are backed by something tangible. I don’t know about you, but I sleep better knowing my money is tied to buildings, tenants, and land—not just market speculation.

✅ It feels better: Our investments don’t just serve investors—they serve communities. We’re building spaces for local businesses to grow, for families to live, and for neighborhoods to thrive.

And Yes, I Put My Own Money in Every Deal

I’ve put my own money into every project we offer. Not because I’m trying to prove anything, but because I genuinely believe this is one of the smartest, most grounded paths to financial freedom out there.

You’ve heard the saying, “Show me your calendar and your checkbook, and I’ll show you what you value.”

Well, my calendar is full of meetings about local projects, and my checkbook is parked in real estate.

So, Where Do You Start?

If you’ve been measuring retirement in years or birthdays, I challenge you to flip the script.

First find your number.

Then get out there and add some real estate to your portfolio. Think of real estate as the fuel that helps your Wall Street portfolio go farther—boosting your returns with consistent cash flow and real-world security.

If you want to explore whether real estate might be the vehicle that gets you there faster and safer (and with some serious community impact along the way), let’s talk.

This is the work I love: empowering people like you to get free.

And we’re doing it one project, one check, and one investor at a time.
